WELCOME TO COLLEGE

Government Arts and Science College, Sivakasi was founded in the year 2013 to light the lamp of higher education in this economically and socially backward region of Sivakasi, Tamil Nadu. The primary aim of the institution is to provide quality education to the learners of the downtrodden sections of the society living in and around Sivakasi. Majority of the students belong to the first generation learners. It is the first Government Arts and Science College established in Virudhunagar district. In its inception, the college was functioned in the rental building in the campus of S.R.V College of Education, Sivakasi. Later on the college is moved on to the present permanent government building which was inaugurated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu on 12th October, 2015 through video- conferencing mode.

Government Arts and Science College is located in a campus sprawling over eleven acres of land allotted by the Government of Tamil Nadu at Aanaiyur Panchayet (Ms. Go. No: 98, Dt. 17.06.2013) on Aanaiyur road with a kilometer distance from the Sivakasi – Srivilliputhur Main Road and four kilometers away from Sivakasi town. It stands self- contained and prominent with all amenities. The institution is affiliated to Madurai Kamaraj University, Palkalai Nagar, Madurai. It is a co-educational institution offering 12 UG Programmes (B.A. Tamil, B.A. English, and B.Com. B.Sc. Maths, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc. Physics, B.Sc. Chemistry, B.B.A., B.A. Economics, B.Sc. Botany, B.A. History, and B.Sc. Zoology) and 5 P.G. Programmes (M.A Tamil, M.A English, M.Com., M.Sc. Maths and M.Sc. Computer Science). Within a short span of 7 years, the College has registered its name for its committed service towards all round and holistic development of the students individually and academically. Now it serves as a beacon-light in the backward area of Virudhunagar District and emphasizes teaching, learning and research programmes in different faculties to the benefit of thousands of students who pursue higher education.
